Overview

Ultra Realistic Smoke URP plays an offline fluid simulation through an editable URP volume shader. Adjust density, color, wind, spread, playback speed and sample counts directly on the included prefabs.

The package includes Cinematic Plume, Dense Soot, Soft Steam and Wind Shear. These are four treatments of one shared simulation, with 47 interpolated 3D density frames. The Industrial Study scene provides a configured camera, lighting, cinematic grading and controls for comparing the presets. It uses connected smoke and studio-set prefab instances, with the reusable Industrial Vent prefab nested inside the studio set.

The shader integrates extinction through a bounded volume and samples density toward the main directional light for internal shading. Opaque scene depth clips the smoke. Runtime and shader source, offline setup documentation and optional production files are included.

Requirements: Unity 6000.0.30f1, URP 17.0.3, Linear color space, a perspective camera, a main directional light and depth available before transparents. URP is a Unity Package Manager dependency. There are no paid asset dependencies, services or runtime AI calls. Blender 3.6 is optional for editing the production source and is not required to use the Unity effect.

Limits: this is baked volume playback, not a runtime fluid solver. Scene objects do not redirect the smoke. Wind and spread deform the baked density. Point and spot lights do not illuminate the volume, and the smoke does not cast a projected volumetric shadow on the environment. Intersecting transparent volumes have sorting limitations. High density and low ray sample counts can reveal bands. HDRP, Built-in, mobile, WebGL, XR and orthographic cameras are not supported configurations for this release. Windows desktop / Direct3D 11 is the tested target.

Performance depends on screen coverage, resolution, quality and overlapping instances. The demo includes an FPS display and adjustable quality. The source density is sampled at 12 Hz and interpolated each rendered frame; high rendering FPS does not add simulated motion states. The showcase video is recorded from Unity at 60 FPS.
