Overview
Use the Direct Video package to play video files on Android™ devices such as smartphones and standalone VR headsets (Meta Quest, Pico VR etc.).
If you want to play 4k and 8k video, high resolution 360 videos etc. this is the plugin for you.
By efficiently using hardware decoding and an optimised decoder pathway, this can playback videos with lower CPU usage, keeping your framerate up and reducing battery drain.
It also loads videos quicker, loops seamlessly without audio glitches (check out the comparison video), seeks much faster than the default player, and has a useful fallback feature so you can use super-high quality video on devices which support it, but fallback automatically on devices that can't decode high resolution or high FPS video files.
